Compare and contrast the above. Now contrast and compare. Now comp.... I give up! I give up!
Must we ALWAYS steal? Is this the answer to everything? ImpactBBDO has been caught red-handed just like many, many of our supposedly top agencies... Under the idea that "everyone else is doing it so can't we?" we are further dumbing down the standard of our morals, ethics (look up those words in case you don't know what they mean), and dignity (again, google it for definition).... So once more, a thief has been caught, no wonder ImpactBBDO is sponsoring "La nuit des Publivores" can you imagine how many of those 500 new ads they can steal? It would last them a full year of pseudo-creativity!

ohhhh what an IMPACT :P
And they call themselves a creative agency!
WOW! So someone was creative enough to find the original, twist it, and convince others who produced it! WoW!
Unbelievable....thank you for sharing the videos....and Tony Abou jaoudeh thinks he's Ashton Kutcher...lol
if you check the TVC description on you tube you would realize that the agency acknowledged usage the inspiration of the format from Steven Spielberg movie, so they didn't hide that fact why accuse them of stealing if they admitted willingly?
besides, this is Steven Spielberg himself and he is the source of inspiration for all agencies I think your accusations are harsh...
This shows how much creativity we have in this country.... *facepalm*
To copy an ad is one thing, but to copy a stupid ad is a whole other thing!
Ba3den Tarek, sayyir ktir active 3al blog. Shu ma 3endak shaghleh 3amleh? ;)
The "real" issue that bothers you are the personalities asking you to vote for the Jeita grotto in that clip.
100% Christian !
Anonymous, if this fact bothers you then you're a sensitive sissy. It's like hating an ad because all its actors have brown eyes.
Anyways, if it makes you happy, Miss Lebanon, Rahaf Abdullah, is actually a Muslim. (And this comment was written by one.)
I didn't know Ammar Houri was Christian lol
is it really the same concept? the look is the same but the message is different... at least this is what I felt.
this is taken from the youtube description: ImpactBBDOBeirut on Oct 18, 2011
Voting has taken a different color: the time has come to vote for JEITA Grotto to become one of the world's seven wonders - a true national pride.
Although the concept is based on a pure Lebanese insight, the format was inspired by "5 friends" renown film produced in 2008 by Steven Spielberg."

MORRON learn to read the description before insulting, what a loser
Dear anonymous person it is one thing to be inspired by an add and another to take it word for word, and your ever so elegant remark "MORRON learn to read the description before insulting, what a loser" gives a good impression of the degree of education and moral decency such a person like you has :)
Since the ad agency claimed publicly that the ad format was inspired by Spielberg (the father of modern creativity in cinema) then why attack them aggressively like that? unless this blog has a personal vendetta against BBDO I believe that it was decent from their part to flash it out and maybe it's the first time an ad agency claim it up front... I think most of the negative reactions on this blog are irrational!
Dear Patsy, The Fact That The Smart Pants Who Blogged Can't Even Spell "Impact BBDO" makes him an ignorant Moron.
Thanks.
Being inspired is one thing and doing the same concept is another thing. When you get inspired by something, you don't do just the same!! Use celebrities, monochrome background, start with the don't vote and then tell people to vote. This is called copying not being inspired by the US version! Just like in anything else can't use the same visual and the same line but change the people!
Copy paste is not being inspired by, it's rather PLAGIARISM.
Eno men 2elet el afkar!!
And Impact BBDO is well spelled in the text. Maybe they should change the name of the agency to Impact DDBO it really doesnt deserve to be a multinational agency. They are used to plagiarism, check Joe la pompe website and you'll see.
I checked joe la pompe and guess what, ImpactBBDO Beirut were accused of plagiarism twice (Audi, C&F) but they were victim of plagiarism twice as well (Orbit, Pepsi)! so other agencies copied ideas from them...
But with Jeita campaign at least they had the decency to announce it before even anyone talked about it!
and I do agree with the previous post that in Jeita case it is not the same concept but the same advertising style...
is the second commercial "if Jeita wins" copied as well?
for me the most important point is that Jeita wins the N7W votes and whether BBDO used Spielberg style or not its really not that important... it's Spielberg after all!
Ibrahim you sounded like a competitor trying to wrongfully abuse the situation... which is totally hypocrite if it is really the case.

i think that TJC has made more research than Impact BBDO......
"Good artists copy, great artists steal.”
What a shame!!!!
ImpactBBDO mentioned in the credits of the TVC (youtube channel) that it was inspired from the american version. So you really cannot call it stolen. what you can blame them for is lack of initiave to do a creative campaign. but definitely not plagirism because they were the ones announcing their inspiration in the first place.
Individual thinking and originality are fostered and nurtured in a community that doesn’t favor uniformity, conformity, and imitation. Every time I want to look at a source of example of creativity in Lebanon general and in my rural hometown in particular I came face to face with the fact that we are generally more imitative than creative.
