Macintosh: Why 2014 will be like "1984"

One of the world's most iconic ads ever almost failed to be broadcasted. It was disliked during the annual Apple conference, was the fruit (no pun!) of a gamble to spent the entire marketing budget on one go (during the Superbowl instead of multiple buys during regular airtime), and... The rest is now history. Thirty years of history to be precise.
The Macintosh is now 30 years old. And with it, specifically through this ad which compared 1984 to the Orwell nightmarish dystopian future, came the legend, the selling line "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like "1984"".
Naturally, the NSA was not on the menu back then. Because now, 2014 IS like 1984.
