Mandela is dead, I honor F.W. de Klerk

Nelson Mandela is dead, the freedom father, the hero, the man who fought to end the apartheid, the..., the..., insert as many titles as you want. Oh, and the Nobel Prize winner in 1993 as well.... Along with F.W. de Clerk who, in his capacity of the seventh and last president of aparth-eid era South Africa helped along with Mandela to broker the end of apartheid. People always remember that it takes two for a deal to happen, it takes two for a conflict to be resolved, we need both sides to agree and make concessions, and agree to confessions, and meet each other halfway, or somewhere if not halfway. F.W. de Klerk did just that.
May Mandela rest in peace, and I honor both him and F.W. de Clerk.

de clerk wasn't the man who spent 27 years in prison

No but de Clerk abdicated power, which is something excessively difficult to do.
