Oh non! du pere.

Pictures: Christian religious images (respectively St. Rita and the Virgin Mary) on weapons carried by combatants during the Lebanese civil war. Photos uncredited.

Don't anyone give me "other people's war on our soil" (as championed by the late Ghassan Tueni). No, it was OUR war, WE fought it, WE killed, WE rampaged, WE did all the atrocities. No one else. It was US. And in the name of what? We claimed it was to protected the father, who art in heaven, the most gracious, the most merciful. But in the end, we are still in denial.
Below is my video art entitled "6w6 talj mkarrar/oh non! du pere": “6w6 mkarrar” is the law of sectarian balance in Lebanon (6 Chrisitan MPs were first appointed, then six Moslems and then duplicated). Talj mkarrar means distilled ice… Everyone is exonerated from evil, especially the militiamen praying for each side to win (6 seconds for the Moslems, 6 for the Christians), but as Bob Dylan said “if God’s on our side, he’ll stop the next war".
